Shropshire’s Film & Drama school
Offering specialist tuition in the digital and performing arts in Shrewsbury.
Based at Shrewsbury College, the Phoenix Academy offers film making, performing arts classes to children and adults.
With a wealth of opportunities we pride ourselves on our subject diversity, extra opportunities and value for money.
Our Programmes:
Acting & Improvisation
Weekly classes for adults 17+
Our acting & improvisation class is aimed at those wishing to enhance their craft and knowledge of technical acting, improvisation and project application.
Advanced Acting & Improvisation classes are part of the Phoenix Pro curriculum yet are open to those who wish to study separately to the Sunday Pro course sessions.
HIGHER EDUCATION Phoenix Pro
Ages 16+
Sundays 10:30am - 3:30pm & Thursdays 7pm - 9pm
Part time technical training and performance opportunities for those wishing to enhance and develop skills for professional application.
Tuition only, undergraduate & graduate diploma options available.
Both our graded and tuition only Pro-courses are inclusive of headshots, showreel, representation and annual showcase.
Students also have the opportunity to work alongside ‘Arts on Fire Productions’ - rehearsals for which are outside of academy hours
Main Academy
Ages 7 - 17
Sundays 10:30am - 2:30pm
Students are grouped by age, ability and attitude. We then rotate students around our four core subject modules - Film & Production arts, Technical Acting, Song & Dance and Immersive Arts.
As well as classes our Main School comes with a wealth of extra opportunities such as Trinity, LAMDA & PAA accredited Exams, Yearly cinema screening & red-carpet gala event, book musicals, performance festivals and professional opportunities!
Little Embers
Ages 4 - 6 years
Sundays 9:30am - 10:30am.
60 minutes of gentle performing arts combined with confidence building exercises and transferable skills.
Each term students work towards a public performance either in house or in a local venue.

Phoenix Pro
End of year Showcase
We are thrilled to invite you all to celebrate the success of our first three terms of Phoenix Pro. Showcasing material from their core disciplines of acting, dance and vocal studies. Alongside our adult acting students we set to make audiences laugh, cry and journey with us as we celebrate our students many and impressive talents.

We were absolutely wowed by students both on the stage and behind the scenes at this years annual book musical at Theatre Severn.
Taking on our most challenging material yet students in both the ensemble and principal cast breezed through challenging dance numbers, tricky vocals and emotional scenes! The feedback from audiences was unanimous - the Phoenix students have grown, upped their game and impressed with their hearty vocals, emotive acting skills and fantastic behaviour.
Well done team, we truly couldn’t be prouder of you all!
